Design, Manufacture, and Performance Testing of Extrusion–Pultrusion Machine for Fiber-Reinforced Thermoplastic Pellet Production

This study aimed to develop an extrusion and pultrusion system for producing carbon fiber-filled thermoplastic pellets. The extruder delivers a plastic melt impregnation die in sufficient volume is pulled out along with the fibers. fibers pass sideways stretched condition through spreader pins attached pool, which can then be wetted optimally. wetting effect was also improved by immersing fiber coupling agent solution at elevated temperature before feeding die. For machine performance testing, polypropylene used as matrix resin following parameters: screw speed of 5 rpm, 210 °C, pulling 56 mm/s. pull-out test conducted assess interfacial shear strength (IFSS) between matrix. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) applied characterize quality impregnation. SEM characterized good bonding average IFSS results indicated resistance fiber–matrix against force. It proved that combination extrusion–pultrusion produce high-quality filaments raw material composite
